Outlinkers adds a secondary call-to-action button next to Shopify's native Add to Cart on selected product pages. The button can point to any supporting URL — a spec sheet, brand or vendor info page, how-to guide, or internal collection — per product or per variant. Shopify checkout is never replaced or hidden.
This page walks through installation, configuration, and the most common questions. Need something not covered here? Email support@outlinkers.com.
1. Getting started
- Install Outlinkers from the Shopify App Store. You will be redirected to approve the requested scope (
read_products). - Approve the subscription on the billing page. The plan is a single annual subscription billed through Shopify.
- From the dashboard, click Enable in theme. This opens the Shopify theme editor with the Outlinkers block ready to add — drop it onto your product template where the cart button normally sits and save.
2. Creating your first product link
- Open the Outlinkers admin and go to Links.
- Click New link and pick the product the link should apply to.
- Paste the destination URL (must be a full
https://URL). Optionally set the button label and choose whether the link opens in a new tab. - Save. The button now appears on that product's storefront page, next to Shopify's native Add to Cart.
3. Per-variant overrides
If a product has multiple variants and each variant should route to a different external page, use the Variant overrides panel inside the link editor. Each variant can have its own destination URL and label; variants without an override fall back to the product-level link.
4. Bulk actions
Go to Bulk action to apply changes across many product links at once — useful when migrating destinations or normalising button labels across a large catalogue. Filters let you select by collection, product type, or current destination domain.
5. Click analytics
Every tap on a Outlinkers button records an anonymous click event. The dashboard shows totals per product, per day, and per destination domain. We do not record shopper IP addresses, full user-agent strings, or any personally-identifiable shopper data — see the Privacy Policy for the complete data list.
7. Master switch
Under Settings you can disable all Outlinkers buttons across the storefront with a single toggle. This is useful for seasonal sales when you want to temporarily restore the standard cart flow without removing the theme block.
8. Subscription & billing
Charges are processed by Shopify and appear on your standard Shopify invoice. The subscription auto-renews annually until you uninstall the App. To cancel, uninstall Outlinkers from your Shopify admin — billing stops at the end of the current paid period.
9. Troubleshooting
The button isn't showing on the storefront
- Confirm the Outlinkers block is added to your product template in the theme editor and the theme has been saved.
- Confirm the product has a link configured under Links.
- Check that the master switch (Settings) is on.
- Hard-refresh the product page (
Ctrl+Shift+R). Theme changes can be cached by your browser or by Shopify's CDN.
Clicks aren't being counted in analytics
- The dashboard updates with a short delay — wait a few minutes after your first test click.
- Make sure your browser is not blocking the click beacon (some aggressive ad blockers can interfere; the App degrades gracefully — the outbound link still works, only the count is missed).
"Enable in theme" button doesn't open the theme editor
- This happens on the very first install if the theme app extension UUID has not propagated yet. Wait ~60 seconds and click again.
- As a fallback, open the theme editor manually, look for the Outlinkers block under App embeds, and add it.
I changed the destination URL but the button still goes to the old one
- Shopify's CDN can cache the configuration for a few minutes. Wait two to three minutes and reload the product page.
- Try the page in a private browsing window to bypass your own browser cache.
10. Uninstalling
From your Shopify admin go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Outlinkers → Uninstall. Within 48 hours of uninstall we delete all data associated with your store — see the Privacy Policy for details.
11. Contact support
